Gilpin Comb-Back Arm Chair

$1,409.00

NOTE: All pieces are made to order. Estimated production/shipping time is currently 18 weeks out.

The Gilpin is named after the original maker, Thomas Gilpin of Philadelphia. T. Gilpin was one of the earliest known chairmakers in the colonies. His chair is in the possession of Independence Hall. D.R.DIMES precisely reproduced the chair in 1976 with permission from the museum. The chair is an excellent example of the Philadelphia style during the middle of the eighteenth century. The large “D” shape seat is sharply chamfered and has a distinctive double line. The turnings are Pennsylvania Blunt Arrow and the comb is nicely scrolled.
