The bird Cage Arm Chair is a rather diminutive Windsor chair and appears delicate. The chair is amazingly resilient. It would have been made during the late 18th century. Stepdown and Thumb-back Windsor chairs were much more ubiquitous but far less stylish. Then, just as today they would have been offered by a high level Windsor chair maker.
