In
1983, D.R. Dimes was commissioned by The Smithsonian to make
reproduction Windsor chairs for public areas
in order to illustrate how small many of these pieces were.
The chairs were meticulously reproduced from a period chair
made by Ebenezer Tracy of Lisbon, Connecticut. E.B. Tracy, as
his chairs were branded, was one of the regions' most prolific
chair makers of his time. He produced chairs of exceptional
and distinctive style while influencing many makers, including
two sons.
