At the very beginning of Douglas R. Dimes career as a furniture maker he had little or no access to fine antiques. The Furniture Treasury by Wallace Nutting was a tremendous source of both information and of inspiration during those early days. No one could have predicted the level of success and skill Mr. Dimes would achieve. Having been commissioned by nearly every major early American Museum in the country D.R.DIMES and his son Douglas P. Dimes have had access to the very best collections of American antiques in the world. Even with all that experience they hold a special place in their hearts for the Wadsworth Atheneum, the museum holding the personal collection of Mr. Wallace Nutting himself. In 2003 Thomas Denenberg, at the time a curator at the Atheneum and the author of the book Wallace Nutting and the Invention of Old America requested we reproduce some pieces in the collection. As always it was our great pleasure and in some ways a circle complete.
