In 1998, Sony Pictures contacted D.R. Dimes to provide reproduction Windsor chairs for the movie "The Patriot" starring Mel Gibson. When Mr. Dimes found out Sony wanted to break one of his chairs as part of the story line, he refused. After thinking about it, he reluctantly agreed. Over thirty D.R. Dimes pieces were used in the film, including much of the furniture in the home of Benjamin Martin (Gibson), most of which was burned in the film’s house fire.
