Dunlap Chest on Frame
The Dunlap family were prominent furniture makers in 18th century New Hampshire. Most early rural furniture makers made pieces less developed than contemporary makers in metropolitan areas. The Dunlap style, however, is unique and exceptional.
The most recognizable feature of the style is the carving. The fan carvings are complex and beautifully executed while the “scroll” or “ribbon” carvings on the skirt are signature elements of the Dunlap school.
